ASHA Newspaper 'The Moon On A Stick' featured on The Creative Review Blog

Over the last few months we have all been beavering away at ASHA to create 'Moon on a Stick' a newspaper that not only talks about different projects that ASHA have worked on, but also delves into the age old fight of whether agencies can work outside of London.

Nice little review can be found here on the Creative Review page if you scroll down to the bottom of the article, and some spreads of the paper can be seen below. My self promotion CV that got me a placement, and eventually my job at ASHA can be seen too!

Off on an adventure...

So today I'm kind of having one of those days where I just want to go on an adventure. Completely impossible I know, but at some point I do actually want to travel around America and just go exploring.

Have come across this really awesome site called tinyhouselistings.com and it is exactly that. Tiny little houses and cabins for sale. I'm a bit claustrophobic but I do, however, love being all cosied up somewhere, like when you go on a caravan holiday and its raining outside but you are all tucked up nice and warm and the seagulls are pounding their big feet on the tin roof. Also anyone remember Charlie Chalk? He lived on this treasure island with a little portable wooden beach hut for a house. Loved it. And now you can actually buy houses like this?! Amazing.

I think what I love about them is the design aspect of having to make a workable living space in such small dimensions and make them actually look good too. I could spend hours looking at this site. Here are some of my favourites...

Visual treats for the Monday Blues...

Definitely got that dreaded Monday feeling, these little beauts have made me a smile though.

Bookshelf with built in bookend designed by Brooklyn based design studio Hold On Tight. Their site can be found at colleenanderic.com. I love this idea, so simple, yet so brilliant.

Everyone knows I am little, well alot, obsessed with list making. So no wonder this little gem makes me happy. Can be found to buy online from Muji here.

And last but not least some lip smacking delights in the form of these over-real oil paintings of tasty puddings from Mary Ellen Johnson. Her website can be found here. If only I had one of these waiting for me when I get home...

R.I.P Vidal Sassoon... thanks for the bob!

Very sad news this evening that the creative hairdressing legend Vidal Sassoon has passed away at the grand old age of 84 of natural causes.

I never really thought much of him until last year I was flicking through the channels late one night, and stumbled across Vidal Sassoon: The Movie.

I ended up staying up late and watching the whole thing, and came to realise what a visionary he was, and how much he has influenced the trends that fall in and out of fashion today.

My boyfriend said that he served him at the building society he used to work at a couple of years ago, such a happy little old man. You would never have thought that he had cut such famous heads such as Mary Quant and actually invented the bob.

I urge anyone to watch the trailer below and seek out the movie, it's a great watch and really well shot too.

Thanks for the bob Mr Sassoon!

New Florence track for Snow White & The Huntsman

I am a big big fan of fairy tales, and am always intrigued when people re-make them, and regular readers of my blog will know that I bloody love a bit of Florence + The Machine. So imagine my excitement when I hear that not only has Florence released a brand new single it is also the official soundtrack for new movie Snow White & The Huntsman! What a treat!

There is no actual music video for the track, but there is a must-watch behind the scenes video which shows Florence and the 100 piece orchestra recording the track at the same time that they recorded the score for the film itself.

The track can be listened to here on Hype Machine : Florence + The Machine - Breath Of Life

The Candy Room Sweet Shop

So how cool is this. A sweet shop with an interior that almost looks like it has just been conjured up out of a Quentin Blake illustration. Unfortunately it is in Melbourne, Australia so I won't be filling my face with any sweets any time soon, but it is pretty cool nonetheless.

Pictures courtesy of HUH. Magazine which can be found
here and the design company that created the interior, Red Design Group (who also have some other pretty tasty stuff) can be found here

Something bright and tasty to cheer us up on this gloomy, rainy Thursday morning....
